On average, how long does it take to make a video game these days?

Yes, I know video games do take a while to make these days, or so it seems, but does anyone know how long you reckon or know it takes to make them these days? I have always been curious because so many games get produced at one time, that I believe that these gaming companies work their bottoms off to make them, and that it is worthwhile acknowledging their hard work! Otherwise, tell me how long it takes on average to make video games these days?

uhm about a couple of months-a few years to work out the bugs like a few months for pong…
